Passion

What is Passion?

We will be watching the Passion of the Christ together on Friday, April 2nd @ 6pm-9pm in the youth room.  We will debrief and discuss the film afterwards, and have a communion service.

Who can go?

This is open to middle school and high school youth.  You MUST have a permission form in order to watch this movie because it is rated R.  No one under the age of 12 will be allowed to view the film.  No one will be forced to watch this film, and youth who feel uncomfortable continue to watch the film may stop at any point.

Why are we watching this film?

This film provides a unique look into Jesus’ final hours before his crucifixion.  This movie enables us to gain a deeper understanding of the suffering that Jesus went through to purchase our freedom and new life.  We often get stuck with an over-simplified understand of Jesus’ death, and this film can really add some perspective to our understanding.

Should I let my youth watch this film?

This is a choice that must be made by the parent/guardian.  I encourage everyone to see this film, but with the warning that it is rated R due to the graphic violence.  We, the church and the youth ministry, believe that this film will inspire and challenge our youth in their faith, and to experience our living Savior in a new way.  Staff and volunteers will be present during the entire film, and will be available for youth who don’t want to continue watching the film.  Our discussion questions will be made available online after we watch the movie so you can continue the conversation at home.
