What?
We will be watching a documentary on modern day slavery called Baht. It focuses on the issues of human trafficking in Cambodia and Thailand, in light of what Rapha House is doing. Because of the nature of the film, a permission form is required.
Sex trafficking is modern-day slavery. In Cambodia, and around the world, people are bought and sold as if they were a commodity. “Baht” is an attempt to expose this issue through telling a story, Sophea’s story. Sophea is a young woman fighting to put the pieces of her life together after being deceived by someone she trusted and forced into prostitution. This film was made in hopes that people might be moved to action to fight injustice – in Cambodia and places like it, as well as in their own cities and towns. Link to film @ CIY

We are watching this film as a part of our year long (2010-2011 school year) campaign, Fight For Their Life. We are fighting for those who cannot fight for themselves. This film helps us connect to the issues of human trafficking, learning about the issue itself, as well as making a personal connection through one girls story.
